Second Test match a certain draw- England vs Pakistan, Test 2, Day 4
Day four saw some play unlike the day three.
Pakistan began the day on 223-9, with England hunting the lone wicket they needed to conclude Pakistan’s first innings.
The innings was soon over when Broad dismissed Rizwan, the batsman who had put England to the sword on day two. Rizwan spooned the ball up in the air and the ball was eventually caught by Zak Crawley.
Rizwan was out for 72 and Pakistan was out for 236.
England’s first innings began and got off to a terrible start. Rory Burns was dismissed three balls in. He edged a ball from Shaheen Afridi which was caught in the slip cordon.
The rain then began to come down and called an end to the days play. England finished the days play 7-1.
The only play of the day saw the troubles continue for Burns. He has struggled to get any form during the series against the West Indies and Pakistan and a cheap dismissal has heaped the pressure on the opener.
Rain saw that day four called off after a couple of overs. Just 96.2 overs out of 360 were bowled over the course of four days. This is a Test that has been seriously hampered by the poor weather circulating Southampton.
Weather permitting the two sides will play tomorrow simply to fulfil the required amount of days but there will be no result in the second Test match.
