Third day of the Test rained off- England vs West Indies, Test 2, Day 3
Day three of the second Test match was rained off. Not a single ball was bowled.
This very much played into the hands of the West Indies. They had a mountain to climb with the total of 469 set by England in their first innings. By the end of day two West Indies were 32-1. The loss of a day means that a draw is the most likely result.
This greatly benefits the visitors as they lead the series, and this was a match in which England were in firm control.
England however, who were in firm control, needed to win this Test if they were to win the three-match series. Losing the first Test meant that they were to win the series, that idea has now been dealt a big blow with the loss of this day of cricket.
The hosts will need to bowl out the West Indies twice in two days if they were to swing a positive result in their favour.
England will need to attack the West Indies and accelerate the game if they are to win the second Test of the series.
The ECB also fined and gave quick bowler Jofra Archer a written warning for breaching the bio-secure environment. The bowler went home in between Tests and broke the regulations that had been put in place for this Test series.
