Dillian Whyte vs Alexander Povetkin Preview

Dillian Whyte vs Alexander Povetkin Preview

Dillian Whyte is looking to avenge the loss that the suffered to Alexander Povetkin in August.

Whyte was in control of the fight and had even floored Povetkin in the fourth round. Povetkin then caught Whyte in the sixth round to claim the knockout victory and the mantel of the WBC mandatory Challenger.

Whyte is determined to right the wrongs of their first fight and get back on the path towards a well-deserved World Title fight.

"It's the biggest fight of my career.

"There is no psychological damage, I'll get straight back in and prove to myself how good I am.

"There will definitely be a different result." He told BBC Radio 5 Live's Boxing with Costello and Bunce podcast.

"I believe I will be world champion one day, but I'll get this done first - I'll knock him out." Whyte concluded.

Povetkin was only the second defeat on Whyte’s record and one that he is desperate to get back.

But Povetkin is very experienced and showed that he is still very powerful. The experienced Povetkin has fought every style throughout his decorated amateur and professional career but how much does he have left in the tank? How long can he continue to fight at world level in the heavyweight division? Will be able to deal with a determined Dillian Whyte?

Whyte will be looking to reclaim the WBC mandatory challenger spot and the WBC Interim Championship belt when the pair meet in front of 500 fans in Gibraltar.

Big fights will await the winner of the contest. The biggest of course being the winner of Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury, but fights against other notable fighters such as Deontay Wilder, Andy Ruiz, Joseph Parker and Oleksandr Usyk could potentially be in the offing.
