Liverpool sign Schalke central defender Ozan Kabak
Liverpool have signed centre back Ozan Kabak from Schalke on loan until the end of the season. The deal comes with an option to buy for Liverpool.
Kabak is Liverpool’s second signing on transfer deadline day after Ben Davies was brought in on a permanent transfer from Preston North End earlier in the day.
Kabak’s move is subject to international clearance and will join later in the week.
The Turkish international rose through the ranks at Galatasaray, where he gained four Champions League appearances. He then joined VfB Stuttgart before joining Schalke.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp pleased with the signing of the promising 20-year-old defender. “He came very young to Germany and everybody was clear he was a massive talent.” He told Liverpoolfc.com.
“We deliver a stable team and you can play your position, you don’t have to be 20 with pretty much everything on the pitch and not allowed to make mistakes anymore.
“He’s really a big, big talent and we are really looking forward to working with him.
“He wants to learn but he can deliver already.” Klopp concluded.
The signings of Kabak and Davies will bolster Liverpool’s defence and will provide Jurgen Klopp with options at the back. Liverpool have a number of injuries at the back and these two deadline day signings provide much needed cover for the Premier League champions.
