Gloucester Re-sign May
Gloucester have re-signed England international wing Jonny May from rivals Leicester Tigers.
The wing spent eight years at Gloucester Rugby before departing for Welford Road in 2017 where he scored 30 tries in 44 appearances for the Tigers over his tenure.
May decided to re-join his former club for the 2020-21 season. The wing said that there was ‘only one club that he wanted to join’ after the decision to leave.
“I'm grateful to David Humphreys [director of rugby] and everyone at Gloucester who have found a way for me to re-join," the England wing said.
May has become one of the essential players in Eddie Jones’ team and has scored 29 tries in 50 appearances. He has cemented himself as one of the best wingers in the world and will provide an abundance of quality to the Gloucester backline.
May had been a target for Gloucester before the postponement of the Premiership season in March with Gloucester’s Director of Rugby David Humphreys finally securing his signing.
"We've been talking to Jonny for a little while and were very close to an agreement before the Premiership was postponed and our discussions had to be put on hold," said Humphreys.
"With the changing landscape in English rugby and beyond, we very much appreciated Jonny's pragmatic approach to our discussions."
With this addition, Gloucester will look to take the next step in the Premiership and quest for Europeans glory.
