Sheffield United have completed the signing of Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster for a fee of £23.5 million.

The deal includes a 15% sell on fee for Liverpool and a buy back option that expires after three years.

Brewster, 20, spent last season on-loan at Swansea City and scored eleven goals for the Welsh side in the Championship last season and helped England win the u-17 World Cup in 2017 in which he collected the golden boot in the competition.

His potential attracted interest from a number of teams including Aston Villa, Brighton, Burnley, Crystal Palace, Fulham and Newcastle United.

Sheffield United won the race to sign the promising forward with manager Chris Wilder happy with the deal. "He has been our number one target,

"At the top of the pitch we have one of the country's hottest properties from Liverpool and for him to sign permanently here is fantastic for everyone concerned.” Said Wilder.

"He's a natural goalscorer. He finishes from any aspect, whether it is in the air or whether it's spectacular goals, free-kicks or off his shin - he has a lovely habit of scoring goals, which is crucial in the Premier League." Concluded the Sheffield manager.

Brewster’s goal scoring acumen is much needed addition to Sheffield United who currently sit in 19th in the Premier League and have a number of injuries in their forward ranks.

The Blades will hope that the England u-21 international will make an instant impact with the team failing to score in three Premier League games this season.

Brewster believed that this move is key to progressing his career. "There were a few teams who came in but right now Sheffield United is the best option for me,

"Looking at the club, it is on the rise, finishing ninth last year and hopefully it can be better this season.” Said Brewster

"Maybe I can add some goals - I'll work hard and try and help the team to a higher place this year.

"I am ready to come in and show everyone what I've got. It is a team that creates a lot of chances, the three at the back, overlapping, they get crosses into the box and that's my game - being in the box, finding space and one- and two-touch finishes.

"That's what I am going to try and do, and try and score goals for Sheffield United." Added the new Blades signing.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has realised that it is important for a young player like Brewster to play regularly.

"He couldn't make it here so far but he has made big steps in his development,

"Rhian was really seriously injured and first we had to make sure he was ready again for all the demands of professional football and he is, 100%.

"When you are younger, [it is important] a player like Rhian in this position now makes the next steps and uses the time he lost during the serious injury - so it is possible a move to another club makes sense." Said Klopp.

Brewster will play a key role in Sheffield’s season if they are to recreate their success from last season which saw the Blades to finish ninth.
